Mäntsälä's English Montessori Playschool offers early childhood education for children aged 1 and up in two groups, and we also have our own preschool. In total, there are about thirty children and six employees. Our activities are based on Montessori pedagogy, which takes into account the sensitive periods of a growing child and their personality as a whole.
Each child progresses in their skills, knowledge, and emotional abilities on their own individual path but as part of a close-knit community. At Montessori, independence and helpfulness go hand in hand. We give children space to try and learn, but help is always available when needed. We also encourage older children to help younger ones. The motto of our play school is: we help children to do things themselves.
Montessori pedagogy develops concentration, which is key to learning. Children are allowed to choose Montessori activities that interest them and suit their skill level, not to mention free play. The classrooms are equipped with materials for science, arts, and everyday tasks. Children can draw, paint, and do crafts, learn about geography, the environment, cultures, mathematics, anatomy, and the senses, or practice buttoning buttons, for example. Language activities open the door to the world of reading and writing.
Playschool is bilingual, and the majority of the children speak Finnish as their first language. They learn English through play, while children who speak other languages learn Finnish. Young children pick up language effortlessly through songs, games, phrases, and instructions given in two languages. There are no language requirements for starting preschool, and children can also join during the preschool year.

Mäntsälä's English Montessori Playschool is run by a non-profit, parent-run support association.

Montessori pedagogy creates a foundation for learning by encouraging initiative and independent work. Children experience a balanced childhood, where they are equipped for a diverse world while developing a joy of learning that helps them grow into independent, insightful, and committed members of their community.

The inspiring Montessori environment offers fun learning experiences and free play with other children. Children usually work in small groups, on their own, or with an adult. Children can choose activities that interest them and suit their skill level, play freely, or ask for to go out to the glassed-in patio to play.

The playschool is located in an old wooden building that exudes cozy warmth. The glassed-in patio and lush yard invite children to play. We also value healthy food and favor local and organic products. The playschool's own kitchen prepares bread, pastries, and snacks, as well as lunch twice a week. On other days, lunch is delivered from the central kitchen.

Everyday life at the playschool is bilingual: There is English in the air. Play-aged children learn English easily through everyday activities and at the same time become familiar with other cultures. The majority of the children speak Finnish as their native language. They learn English through play, while children who speak other languages learn Finnish. There are no language requirements for starting playschool.
